My name is Holly The Newf and I'm a 3 year old female Newfoundland. The Newfoundland dog has a sweet-disposition
that makes it a devoted companion. As a working breed dog,
I'm at home on land and in the water. Newfoundlands are known for draft work (pulling carts), as well as their passion for swimming. They possess a natural
ability for lifesaving. There are many famous Newfoundland dogs that hold important places in history.
I am lucky to be a member of such a distinguished breed of dog. Because of my gentle and caring temperment, I'm a perfect candidate for
therapy dog work. I love children and the elderly.
At 120 lbs.,
I can be a bit intimidating, but my love of people instantly puts any fears to rest. Along with my human, Kim, we've developed a group of presentations and demonstrations
that are perfect for any age group. Whether you have a service club, a school group, or an organization that would like to learn more about Newfoundlands or therapy dogs or
how to care for dog...we have a talk for you. We also have demonstrations that let people see what Newfoundlands are all about. In one a get to pull my cart which I love to
do. I was even in the Williamsburg Christmas parade pulling my very own "Holly Trolley".
Through the Therapy Dogs International program, Kim and I have a great program we are involved with called
Tail Waggin' Tutors. Children who are just learning how to read sometimes have difficulties. With the Tail Waggin' Tutors program, they get to read to dogs. It puts them at
ease (most kids love to read to dogs) and they learn to be better readers. Through Therapy Dogs International I am also available to
visit nursing homes and the elderly. Older people love to pet me and talk to me. Many times they tell me stories about when they had a dog. It makes me feel good to make
people happy.
Click here to schedule me for a visit to your school, church,
nursing home, or organization today. I would love to meet you.
