Holly The Newf About Us

I am a 3 year old female Newfoundland. Together with my owner and handler, we do therapy dog work in and around Cumberland, Maryland through Therapy Dogs International (TDI). I work with the Tail Waggin' Tutors Program to teach children how to become better readers. I have several educational programs to teach people about Newfoundlands and Responsible Dog Ownership. I am also available to visit nursing homes and health care facilities. Feel free to schedule me for a visit.

Council Cup's Holly is an AKC registered Newfoundland. In raising Holly The Newf from a small puppy of 35 lbs., her owner and handler Kim Butler soon realized that her dog possessed a special gift for making people of all ages happy. Where ever Holly The Newf went, she drew crowds of people who wanted to know what she was, how much she weighed, and how much she ate. Everybody wanted to touch Holly The Newf and pet her. At the suggestion of Kim's sister Jenn Merritt, CDPT, a professional dog trainer and owner of Blue Dog Creature Coaching, Kim had Holly The Newf tested to become a therapy dog.

Holly The Newf passed her AKC Canine Good Citzenship test was certified in May of 2008 to do therapy dog work through Therapy Dogs International (TDI). Holly The Newf is currently undergoing training for water rescue work and draft work with the Colonial Newfoundland Club, in which she and her family are members. Holly The Newf is available for various therapy and educational visits in and around Cumberland, MD, in Western Maryland. She eagerly spreads the word about her breed, responsible dog ownership, her work as a Newfoundland, and spreading joy to everyone she meets.
