Also known as the Newf or Newfie, the Newfoundland is a devoted campanion animal that has a fabulous temperment. Their sweet disposition and loyalty makes them a wonderful family
dog and extremely good with children. This dog is the epitome of the working breed with its natural ability
for swimming and water rescue work, as well as being built for draft work and pulling carts. The Newfoundland is a large, double coated dog with
webbed feet. They are large boned and very strong.
The average weight for males is 130 to 150 pounds and the average weight for females is 100 to 120 lbs. The average
height for males is 28 inches and the average height for females is 26 inches. Recognized colors for the Newfoundland breed include black, brown,
gray, and black-and-white known as a Landseer. The average litter size is 8 to 10 puppies. Average life span with good health is 8 to 10 years.
